I have been working as a mental health therapist since 1998. I continue to be privileged in witnessing the healing effects of therapy transform people’s lives. It is an amazing process that fosters honesty, trust, and growth. Time and again what seems to matter most in the therapeutic process is that people feel accepted and supported in a relationships that is grounded in unconditional positive regard. I strive to promote a truly supportive relationship of safety and trust.
In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, cure or change this person. Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their own personal growth.
Mental health issues that I have experience in working with include depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, life changes, grief work, parenting, family relationships, chronic physical ailments, and/or substance use problems. My years of mental health work have included helping people to deal with and often overcome these mental health challenges and live a meaningful life. Sharing mental health issues with a trusted person is an opportunity to reach new levels of awareness and growth.
Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.
